Overview

Permanent emphasis on active achievement and control of preventive examinations in the primary health care inthe course of productive and elderly life is considered one of the most dominant conditions of the objectives ofthe policy Health 21. In relation to the audit and reviewing activities in the course of January–June 2002, thephysician reviewer and his assistant performed the assessment using a standardized interview with randomlyselected elderly patients insured by HZP who were provided the home health care by nurses of respectiveagencies. The questions were asked and recorded into the questionaire with the aim of getting the informationon the level of awareness of the clients of the health insurance company on the notion of preventive examination. We consider the results of the survey less satisfactory as concerns the level of awareness of the clients of thehealth insurance company. It is necessary to look for the possibilities of improving the quality of information inrelation to improving the quality of provided and payed health care taking into the collaboration of payers andhealth care providers. The practice of preventive examinations should be directed towards all age groups, inparticular the youngest ones, however prevention of diseases in clients of the health insurance company ina productive age and specific problems in geriatrics cannot be ommitted.
