Overview
The paper discusses fibromyalgia syndrome as a neurological disease based on chronic and/or intermittent ischemia mainly in verterbo basilar region resulting in both brain and medullar pain dysregulation and explaining as well all the symptoms found in fibromyalgia. Due to that understanding and results obtained in a pilot study a set of balneologic physiatric procedures are suggested available not only in spas but also in low-level equipped rehabilitation centers. A combination of hydrotherapy, CO2 dry bath, magnetotherapy and manual procedures are recommended in order to improve both the perfusion and oxygenation in CNS regions supplied by vertebral arteries and their branches.
Key words:
fibromyalgia syndrome, balneologic physiatric procedures, perfusion, oxygenation, CNS
