Overview
Introduction:
Many factors influence the success of infertility treatment by IVF/ET method. One of the crucial moments can be embryotransfer. Transfer ultrasound monitoring (US) can help to easier transfer catheter introducing and its placement in the uterine cavity. The aim of this study was the statistical analysis of the effect of ultrasound guidance during embryo transfer on the pregnancy rate.
Material and methods:
Two hundred and twenty six women treated by IVF/ET were included in this study. Transfers were practised either with or without ultrasound guidance. Basic statistics, Mann-Whitney U test and Fisher´s exact test were used for data description and group differences analysis.
Results:
In goup A (US+) – 113 women, 31 clinical pregnancies were achieved (27.4 %). In group B (US-) – 113 women, 34 clinical pregnacies were achieved (30.1%).
Conclusions:
The difference in pregnancy achievement between group A and B was not statistically significant.
Key words:
