PFAPA syndrome in children, our experience with surgical treatment – review article with a case report

Overview
The issue of periodic fever conditions in paediatric patients is connected with wide differential diagnosis. Among other causes, it is necessary to think also about the group of so-called periodic fevers syndrome, or autoinflammatory diseases. PFAPA syndrome (Periodic Fever, Aphthous Stomatitis, Pharyngitis and Cervical Adenitis syndrome) is the most common representative periodic fever in children’s patients. Effective causal treatment of this syndrome is possible within the ENT department. In the article, we provide an overview of PFAPA syndrome among autoinflammatory diseases and the effect of surgical treatment, tonsillectomy with adenotomy.
