Overview
Cisplatin is presently a widely used chemotherapeutic in many types of neoplasms. It causes various side effects, though. The literature indicates sensoric-neural hearing disorder as one of the side effects affecting more than 26% to 90% of patients according to the type of tumor, therapy and patient’s condition. The follow up of hearing is important not only during chemotherapy, when the change of therapeutic plan may prevent significant hearing loss, but also afterwards for late effects of cisplatin use.
Key words:
cisplatin, sensoric-neural hearing disorder, medulloblastoma, late consequences.
