Overview
Results of a histological study in 24 temporal bones affected by chronic otitis media with cholesteatoma in 20 individuals are presented. In four temporal bones, symptoms of inflammatory affection of internal ear demonstrate four types of labyrinthitis. In the classification of labyrinthitis the authors used histological-clinical classification according to Schucknecht, distinguishing acute serous (toxic) labyrinthitis, acute purulent labyrinthitis, chronic labyrinthitis and ossifying labyrinthitis (labyrinth sclerosis).
