Overview
Diagnosis and rhinological treatment of nasal liquorrhoea of all etiologies achievedrecently great advances due to more accurate identification of liquor by examination for beta2transferrin, successful localization of fistulae by CT cisternography and the endoscopic finding ofthe fluorescein test. Surgical treatment of liquor fistulae could therefore eliminate radical transcranialoperations and the majority of transfacial ones and apply above all the technique ofendoscopic endonasal surgery. Successful healing of the fistula is achieved by the first operation inmore than 90 % of cases. These operations have a low morbidity and a practically zero mortality.
