Overview
Authors present findings of microbiological examination of the nose and pharynx in 253 healthy employees of the call-centre. Examinations were undertaken as a preventive measure after the death of one female employee due to suspected meningococcal sepsis. Microbiological examination of the nose indicated physiological microbial flora in 212 employees (83.8 %) and potentially pathogenic microflora in 41 examined (16.2 %). Microbiological examination of the pharynx indicated physiological findings in 236 workers (93.3 %) and potentially pathogenic findings in 17 individuals (6.7 %), including two findings of N. meningitidis X and N. meningitidis of a nonspecific serotype. In the conclusion, the authors present proposals of preventive measures for exposed workers of call-centres.
