Overview

A painful impingement syndrome of a shoulder with a function disorder has its origin in oppression of a subacromial space withsubsequent degeneration and damage of a cuff of rotators and bursa. The review of etiopatogenesis of the disease, degeneration ofsoft tissues, clinical symptoms and related difficulties are presented in the paper. The review of examinations with an appropriatealgorithm of rentgenologic, ultrasonographic techniques and a magnetic resonance method follows. Treatment includes conservativeand surgical procedures. The issues of prognosis and occupational medical expertise is discussed in detail. An impingementsyndrome of a shoulder is related with a unilateral, excessive and long-term overload of a shoulder girdle.
