Although they explai-ned dyspeptic complaints, consistent with then prevailing views, mainly by impaired gastric secretion, whichlater proved unsubstantiated, their concept of functional gastric disorders formed the foundation of Czechtradition which was to be preserved, modified and developed by further generations.
