Overview
The article focuses on the neuropsychological evaluation of selected cognitive functions in patients with diffuse low-grade gliomas (DLGG) who underwent awake craniotomy (surgery performed on the patient while conscious and alert). This surgical approach requires the patient's commitment and the cooperation of an interprofessional team. The most important benefit is that it allows the patient's cognitive functions to be monitored during the procedure, thus preserving them as much as possible. In this paper, we present the results of the preoperative assessment of the performance of selected cognitive functions of patients, in comparison with the postoperative control examination. The possibility of the neurorehabilitation of cognitive functions is also discussed, with the objective of achieving the best possible quality of life for patients.
