The authors describe a fatal case of tertian malaria (Plasmodium vivax) imported to the Czech Republic fromIndia. Severe clinical symptoms leading to shock and multi-organ failure are more frequent in tropical malaria (P.falciparum). Despite the use oc continuous veno-venous haemodiafiltration HLA-DR decline and death occurred.The effect of the administered antimalarias drugs was good.
