Overview
The risk of developing urinary tract infections (UTIs) increases with age in people over 60 years of age. Its occurrence is mainly caused by the development of involutional changes in the urinary tract of the elderly. The influence of risk factors on the altered urinary tract and pre-existing comorbidities lead to the development of complicated forms of urinary tract infections, which are most typical for the elderly. Knowledge of specific changes in the human urinary system and their clinical manifestations that occur with age allows the doctor to detect their pathological condition in time and start treatment immediately, thereby preventing the development of serious complications. Treatment of IMC risk factors in the geriatric population is part of its prevention.
