Subjective assessment in relation to selected aspects in the population over 60 years old

Overview

Background: Subjective assessment of seniors is an important factor in overall nursing assessment and can greatly contribute to providing appropriate and individual care.

Aims: This paper aimed to map the subjective view of various aspects that are often associated with the care of the elderly.

Methodology: A quantitative research survey using a non-standardized questionnaire was chosen for data collection. The research was focused on the population older than 60 years in the South Bohemian Region.

Results: The results showed that subjectively the worst perceived movement and cardiovascular diseases, while movement diseases also negatively affect the performance of daily activities. Malignant diseases had the greatest impact on the subjective assessment of physical and mental health.

Conclusion: Subjective evaluation should be taken more into account in the care of the elderly, as it provides valuable information that many objective evaluations do not find.
