Overview
Inclusive mobility – transportation and ageing urban populations are the subjects of the European Union projects SIZE and COST, reacting to the insufficient level of knowledge regarding the transportation needs of population segments that are outside of the job market, especially seniors. Such knowledge is important for understanding the role of mobility in the mechanisms of social exclusion and for issuing recommendations and policy suggestions regarding transportation to government bodies and local governance officials. The main goal of the project was to evaluate the role of mobility in the processes of social exclusion of the elderly. Mobility was evaluated in terms of use of various modes of transport, routing, frequency and transportation behaviour in general and its barriers.
