Drinking regime as a part of therapeutic intervention in seniors.

Overview

This article explains the distribution of body water and its changes in elderly. Attention is paid to the durst feeling as a late signal of dehydration. From the drinking regime point of view there is stressed the general trend of elderly to low fluid bilance followed by dehydration, kidney overloading, necessarity of urin concentration and higher risk of thromboembolic disease. The overview of mineral water kinds is given, attention is paid to the content of different minerals and their relationship to epidemiologically important diseases. At the end unsuitable kinds of fluids are discussed.
