Overview

Cardiac computed tomography (CT) has a broad spectrum of indications not only in the diagnostic process of cardiovascular disease but also in guiding before invasive procedures. Currently, cardiac CT can be used in evaluation of coronary artery disease, mainly in patients with low or moderate cardiovascular risk, in patients after percutaneous coronary intervention for stent evaluation, and also in patients after CABG for patency of grafts evaluation. CT also has an important role in identifying coronary anomalies. Anatomy of the heart can be used in invasive procedures, particularly before TAVI, in electroanatomical mapping before pulmonary vein isolation. The key role of CT is for diagnostic process of pulmonary embolism and aortal dissections and acute aortic syndromes.
