Overview

Work with the computer is a typical modern job activity given by the ever increasing demand of applying information technology. However, it also brings certain health risks, most frequently musculoskeletal complaints and burdening of the eyes. As regards musculoskeletal complaints, in question is pain in the spine – the cervical most often, and certain disorders due to overloading of the upper extremities, namely on longterm use of the keyboard and mouse. In the paper are analyzed some typical musculoskeletal complaints on the job with the computer. Their basic cause may be shortcomings in the ergonomic arrangement of the workplace (e.g. position of the monitor, keyboard, mouse, unsuitable chair, etc.), the psychic load also plays a role. Improvement of ergonomic conditions is among the fundamental prerequisites of lowering the incidence of such complaints.
