Overview

The group of natriuretic peptides include ANP, BNP and CNP. These peptides have a similarstructure with a significant vasorelaxing, natriuretic and diuretic effect. In clinical practicediagnostic assessment of BNP and its prohormone proved most useful.Examination ofBNP(NT-proBNP) is used in particular in the differential diagnosis of dyspnoea,assessment of cardiac dysfunction, estimation of efficacy of treatment and prognosis (e.g. inpatients after an acute coronary attack).
