Overview

The authors describe briefly the development of integrative approaches in medicine frompsychosomatic to behavioural medicine worldwide and in this country.They summarize experience with teaching of psychosomatic and behavioural medicine in theCzech Republic during the last 20 years. Since 1982 the Chair of Psychiatry of the Institute ofPostgraduate Medical Training in the Health Services in Prague organized a total of 22 professionalcourses for physicians of all disciplines and clinical psychologists. 138 physiciansparticipated in these courses, incl. 90 psychiatrists and 3 clinical psychologists. The authorsoutline the contents of these courses and mention their practical outcomes. They mention alsosome other forms of postgraduate and undergraduate teaching.
