Overview
Objective:
To evaluate the effectiveness of the preparation Helicid 20 of Léčiva Co. (omeprazol20 mg) combined with Entizol Polfa Co. (metronidazol 250 mg) and Fromilid Krka Co.(claritromycin 250 mg).Patients and methods: The high eradication effect of 7-day combined anti-helicobactertreatment with omeprazol 2x20 mg, metronidazol 2x500 mg and claritromycin 2x250 mg wasagain confirmed. For the first time in this country in this combination theomeprazol preparationHelicid 20 of Léčiva Co. was used.A total of 91 patients with Helicobacter pylori (H.) were treated where the infection was provedby the rapid urease test and/or histologically, 42 men and 49 women, mean age 50 years.Combined treatment with omeprazol 2x20 mg,metronidazol 2x500 mg and claritromycin 2x250 mgwas administered for a week. The success of H. pylori eradication was evaluated by means ofthe rapid urease test and histologically from the antrum and corpus of the stomach four weeksafter termination of one-week combined treatment. Results: The H. pylori infection was eradicated in 86 patients (94.5%). Side-effects wererecorded in 30 patients (33 %), they were mild and did not lead to discontinuation of treatment. Conclusions: The tested combination of antihelicobacter eradication treatment with Helicid20 proved effective, safe and relatively cheap. It is therefore under our conditions suitable asa method of first choice.
