Eating disorders are among the most frequent diseases of young women and girls. They causelong-term difficulties not only to the affected subjects but also to their families, friends andemployers.Gradually they interfere with the mental, social and professional life of the patients.On accountof their chronic course and serious somatic, psychic and social consequences they belong to themost serious diseases of adolescents. Some symptoms of anorexia nervosa can be observed inas many as 6% girls at the end of puberty. From fear of obesity, dissatisfaction with their body,unsuitable dietary habits and ways how to „control“ their body weight suffer nowadays alsomany adult women and men. The basic symptomatology has its logical development, biologicaland logical impact. A change of dietary habits and nutrition implies interference with thecomplicated physiology of the organism which has also psychological and long-term socialsequelae. The objective of the presented work is a comprehensive view of anorexia nervosa,possible intervention and evaluation of its effectiveness.
