Aortic Dissection as the Cause of Death Despite Early Diagnosis and Prompt Treatment - Case-report

Overview

In the submitted brief paper the authors describe the case of a female patient with aortic dissection with a typical clinical manifestation which led to a rapid diagnosis. Immediate transfer to a cardiosurgical department made urgent surgery possible. Despite this the patient died later from multiorgan failure. The authors summarize the basic findings regarding the disease and its course and therapeutic methods, comment the typical symptomatology of the described case, analyze the complications which developed and emphasize the necessity to consider this diagnosis also in the field as in particular in the elderly population it is not as rare as usually assumed.
