Overview

The authors present a case report of a 72-year-old patient, which had an open prostatectomy using Frayer-Fuller procedure for complicated benign prostatic hyperplasia, reaching monstrous proportions, 930 grams. So far, the largest published case of adenoma was from India in March 2010, when Dr. Rajendra Punjabim removed an adenoma weighing 650 grams. Our case is both a medical rarity, and also a world rarity, aspiring for entry into the Guinness Book of Records.

Key words:
benign prostate hyperplasia, open suprapubic prostatectomy according Frayer-Fuller, transurethral resection of prostate (TUR-P), holmium enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP), photoselective vaporization of the prostate (PVP).
