The authors present results of their study aimed at proving efficiency of prophylactic administration of 2.5%povidon iodide solution. The results demonstrated a high efficiency of povidon iodide in this indication, a perfecttolerance and last, but not least, confirmed that at the given concentration povidon iodide did not influence thefunction of thyroid gland in the newborn.
