Overview
Vesicouretheral reflux (VUR) is an inherited abnormality of the urinary tract frequently accompanied byrecurrent urinary infections. The standard therapeutical approach comprises surgical correction and consequentlong-term prophylactic antibiotic therapy. Authors present case report of a paediatric patient with VUR sufferingfrom recurrent urinary infections. The use of standard therapy failed. After assessment of secondary deficiency inT cell mediated immunity, combined immunomodulatory therapy (transfer factor, preparation Immodin inj., indose 1 inj. s.c., once weekly - 3 weeks follow up, 4th and 5th inj. in every 4 weeks lasting intervals and bacteriallysate, preparation Uro-Vaxom in dose 1 caps. daily, during the period of 3 months) was administered. High clinicalefficacy was observed with long-term (2.5 yrs) absence of urinary infection.
