Overview
A 16-year-old boy was treated on account of arthritis and osteitis located on the anterior thoracic wall, leftankle and spine. He developed these manifestations five weeks after marked deterioration of acne. The local skinlesions and manifestations on the locomotor system improved after treatment. However sterno-costo-clavicularhyperostosis persists. The SAPHO syndrome was defined in 1987 as a unit including skin manifestations (severeforms of acne, or pustulosis palmoplantaris) concurrently with an osteoarticular symptomatology - non-infectiousosteitis, hyperostosis and arthritis.
