Contribution to the Diagnosis and Treatment of Tularaemia

From September 1998 till July 1999 to the Paediatric Department of the Infectious Diseases Clinic, FacultyHospital Hradec Králové ten patients with tularaemia were admitted. One patient was treated at the out-patientdepartment. All the patients were boys aged 4 to 18 years. In two patients the ulceroglandular form was involved,in one the pharyngeal form with subsequent transition to the glandular form - intrathoracic lymphadenopathy, inanother patient the pharyngeal form with gradual transition to the glandular form - cervical lymphadenopathy,in one intrathoracic lymphadenopathy with subsequent development of tularaemic pneumonia. Moreover theauthors observed in the first stage affection of the pulmonary parenchyma with subsequent development ofintrathoracic lymphadenopathy. The authors deal in detail with the problem of diagnosis and treatment of thisnot very frequent disease.
