Overview
In the course of 10 years mastocytic skin diseases were diagnosed in 48 children (25 boys and 23 girls): solitarymastocytoma 5x, urticaria pigmentosa with dermal dissemination of morphae of different extent 42x, diffuseerythrodermic mastocytosis 1x. 36 children had skin manifestations already during the first six months after birth(75 %), three children had manifestations already at birth. In the patients the disease was manifested at the ageof two years and only two patients had the onset of symptoms after the age of six. Histological verification wasmade in 36 patients. It is remarkable that 59 % of the patients were referred to the department from otherdepartments with an incorrect or no diagnosis, only 31 % of the children had a correct primary diagnosis. Theauthors discuss the conditions of a correct diagnosis (incl. histological and laboratory diagnosis) and contemporarytherapeutic possibilities of different types of dermal mastocytoses.
