Overview
Eyelid eczema is complex in terms of diagnosis, therapy and the physician's approach to the patient. In thefirst part of this article the most common causes and differential diagnosis are presented, as well as theresults of patch testing. In topical treatment, attention is paid to sequential strategy and the use of topical immunomodulators. Comorbidities and complications of atopic dermatitis and their significance are reviewed, focusing on ocular involvement. In the second part, atopic keratoconjunctivitis is detailed with recommendations for dermatologists on how to proceed with patients at risk, including basic screening using targeted questions. Early detection and treatment can prevent the onset and development of often irreversible complications.
