Overview
X-rays still play a role in therapy of not only malignant, but also benign skin diseases. The authors summarize principles of generation and action of X-rays, especially, concerning application of superficially acting electromagnetic radiation lying in the spectrum between ultraviolet and X-rays, i.e. „Grenz“ or „Bucky“ rays, in dermatology. Indications for Grenz ray treatment are, above all, therapy resistan plaques of scalp psoriasis, nail psoriasis, and chronic eczema. Main oncologic indication are mentioned.
Key words:
RTG radiation – RTG therapy – Bucky radiation – Grenz rays
