Overview
In this minireview the contemporary state of genetics in dermatology is described. The basic genetic terminology and the differences between monogenic and complex skin diseases as well as basic laboratory methods for DNA diagnostics are explained. Current benefit of the molecular biology methodology in clinical dermatological genetic research is evaluated and finally, current clinical application of DNA diagnostics in dermatology is summarized.
