Overview
Seborrheic dermatitis is a common disease affecting areas rich of sebaceous glands. The incidence is between 1 to 3% and markedly increases in HIV carriers, AIDS and neurologic diseases. The authors give the basic characteristics of the disease, clinical symptoms, its occurrence in predisposed patients (neurological diseases and HIV/AIDS), an overview of aetiopatogenic factors with special regard to the influence of Malassezias, to immunological and other factors and review the possibilities of local and systemic therapy.
