The objective of the work was an analysis of a group of patients with the diagnosis of malignantmelanoma. The group comprises patients dispensarized at the dermatological department of theBulovka Faculty Hospital in 1989-2000. It is a retrospective analysis based on the documentation ofthe enlisted patients. The analysis is focused on sex, age when the diagnosis was established andperiod of dispensarization. The authors evaluated and compared the sites of the primary lesion,histopathological classification, development of secondaries, distribution of findings according toBreslowin individual years in order to ascertain whether the detection of melanomas shifts to earlierstages with a lower Breslow value, and coincidence with other tumours diseases.
