Overview
The author examined in patients with okus crnris of a mixed etiology the pH and blond gases pC02 and p02 in capillary blond. In a group of 10 patients she found a pH of capillary blond Glose to the lower borderline of normal values and blond gases pC02 and p02 at the lower borderline of normal values as compared with a group of 20 healthy subjects. In the investigated patients primary hypoxia at the lower borderline of normal values was recorded.Oxygen is needed in the wound not ohly as a substrate to provide free energy but also as a substrate to ensure collagen synthesis. In tase of oxygen deficiency in the collagen molekule transverse bonds are formed which reduce the resistance to traction in the wound.Promotion of oxygenation of the organism is thus verv important.
