The Achilles tendon is relatively frequently affected in different rheumatic diseases. The authorspresent a review of possible ultrasonographic findings in the diagnosis of acute and chronictendinitis. The pitfall in the evaluation of chronic tendinitis is the differentiation of degenerativechanges and minor ruptures. A frequent associated finding is also affection of both bursae.
