Overview
There are emerging new problems associated with medication side effects withdevelopment of therapeutic modalities of current medical approaches. Some of these, such asCyclosporin A (CsA), anticlonvulsants and calcium channel blockers are associated with gingivalhyperplasia. We know the pharmacological mechanisms, clinical and histopathologic features, but the question about ethiopathogenesis remains still open. The mechanismof the gingivalhyperplasia development is complicated and includes action of many cofactors, such as plaque, genetic predisposition, age and hormones.
