Overview
The investigation summarizes changes in the compsition of the microbialspectrum in the periodontal region focused on so-called periodontal pathogens, i.e. fusobacteria, veilonellae, pigment-forming bacteroids and actinobacilli assembled in a longitudinal study inadult patients with type 1 diabetes. From the results ensues that the microbial spectrum indeep periodontal pockets did not change significantly in the course of the trial, while in shallowperiodontal pockets therewas a gradual reduction of periodontal pathogens.Dental therapeuticand preventive intervention did not influence the prevalence of microbiological markers ofdiabetes (candidae, St. epidermidis).
