Overview
Odontogenic myxomas of the mandible are rare benign mesenchymic tumors. Itis difficult to remove them completely without having resected the afflicted part of bone. Thatis why these tumors recur frequently. Although these tumors do not metastasize but theychange their skiascopic arrangement from demarcated types of tumors to destructive tumorswhich are arranged in either sliced or honeycombed form. Numerous originally diagnosedcentral bone fibromas are classified as fibromyxomas after a careful histological analysis hasbeen performed. Though myxomas are mentioned in literature as tumors that occur lessfrequently in childhood, the authors describe two cases of this age. Both myxomas occurred inconnection with retention of some tooth in the mandible. Conservative-surgical treatment wasperformed, the aim of which was to assure the completion of development of the mandible andits full functioning, as well.
