Summary:
Thin films of hydroxylapatite, about 500 nm, were formed on titanium alloysamples by excimer laser ablation Ten different deposition conditions were used such asdeposition atmosphere (vacuum, pure water vapours, mixture of Ar and water vapours),substrate temperature, target-substrate distance and energy density. Mechanical and physicalanalyses were carried out by Rutherford backscattering, Particle Induced X-Ray Emission,crystallinity of films by x-ray diffraction, surface morphology by Scanning Electron Microscopyand adhesion by a scratch test. Biological evaluation of samples was also performed. Thefibroblast proliferation test, morphological evaluation of macrophages and activity of lympho-cytes cultured in the presence of implants were implemented.
