Overview
In the Czech and Slovak Republics 47 psychiatrists participated in an open multicentre studywith tianeptine (37.5 mg/day) in patients with mild and moderate depressive episodes treated for60 days. Efficacy and acceptability was assessed by psychiatrists on the 10th, 30th and 60th day oftreatment by HAM-D21 (Hamilton Psychiatric Rating Scale for Depression); and by patients usingthe self-assessment scale HAD (hospital, anxiety, depression). There were 219 patients (53 man, 166 woman) with characterized demographic and depressiveepisodes, only 7 patients (3.2%) did not complete the study. Tianeptine decreased significantlytotal score HAM-D21 in 93% of patients. There was improvement in mood, ability to enjoy things, decrease of anxiety and decrease of inner tension and agitation, reduction of sleep disturbances, redynamisation, increase of interest in work and activities, decrease of anxiety and decrease ofcoprescribed anxiolytics. A minimum of adverse events was observed; tolerance was very good(79.4%) or good (18.0%) associated with high compliance (99%).
