The author discusses suicidal behaviour by drug intoxication. He analyzes 44patients hospitalized in 1996 at the metabolic unit of the Medical Clinic,Faculty Hospital Motol after attempted suicide by medicaments. He paysattention to sex, age, education, family status, previous psychiatric morbidi-ty, influence of alcohol and other characteristics. He compares the resultswith data in the literature. In the investigated group women predominatesignificantly over men. The most frequent motive of suicidal behaviour wasa partnership conflict. As regards family status, single subjects followed bydivorced subjects, are the highest risk group. An important influence is exer-ted by alcohol consumption.
