Overview
Within the framework of a grant provided by the Internal Grant Agency ofthe Ministry of Health CR a group of patients was established with the dia-gnosis of „pure“ Alzheimer’s disease. This group which will be supplementedand modified in future serves above all as a source of patients for research inthe area of Alzheimer’s dementia. It is also a base of probands for clinicalstudies testing new therapeutic methods (in particular pharmacotherapeuticones). The created register with the introduced methods and personnel couldwithout modification serve as an „Alzheimer centre“. Such centres are nowa-days recommended for indication of the prescription of very expensive ace-tylcholine esterase inhibitors.Within the framework of the grant also a computer database was createdwhich makes comprehensive collection and keeping of data on individualpatients possible as well participation of different subjects engaged in examinations and treatment of patients. Several publications were prepared ser-ving doctors and psychologists as well the patient’s caregivers. The authors describe the characteristics of the group forming the register, aswell as the applied diagnostic methods.
