Overview
In the clinical practice we have met with the fact that some patients did not toleratesoft coloured contact lenses even when they used them for a short time. To findwhether the cause is the composition of these lenses, mainly the adding of stain,he used the laboratory test to determine cytotoxicity, the test of dynamic obser-vation of cytotoxicity where the cells cultured in vitro are the experimental object. On the basis of the results of this test commonly used for the determination of thecytotoxicity of implantation materials, he thinks that the cause of intolerance ofcoloured lenses is not their toxicity but other phenomena. An individual hyper-sensitivity or insufficient care of lenses (the influence of disinfectants) can beamong these causes.
