Overview

Problems of decubital lesions are currently very discussed not only from the perspective of a high economic burden related to their treatment. More attention has been paid to the prevention of bed sores with a significant change of the approach to the investment related to active preventive procedures of the management of health care institutions in last few years. Our review article is focused on potential preventive approaches as well as on the potential identification of patients at risk and potential benefits of exercising suitable preventive strategies. Additionally, clinical randomized studies that confirmed the efficacy of the actively exercised preventive approaches in the care of patients at risk of bed sores are presented.

Key words:
bed sore, prevention, clinical study, silicon foam dressing
