Overview
This paper deals with various aspects, which must be considered by doctors who have the experience and training in open radical prostatectomy and who want to integrate robot assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy in their practice. The article includes a discussion relating to training and deals with a learning curve for a doctor with an experience with open surgery, who wants to be a specialist in robotic prostatectomy. Synoptic and objective presentation regarding to advantages and disadvantages of robotic radical prostatectomy related to a patient is also included. The article further contains issues related to an equipment required and to the technical aspects of a surgery. Financial implications of robotic surgery, both in a private practice and in a hospital, are discussed herein.
KEY WORDS:
