Motto: …neuškoď (Hippokrates 460 - 370 let př. n. l.)

Overview

Surgery complications can be minimised by

1. Careful assessment of suitability of the particular patient for laparoscopic surgery;

2. Correct positioning of the patient in the appropriate position, and suitable padding;

3.
Providing both the surgeon and the anaesthetist with detailed information on all possible complications and their symptoms (to allow for their timely identification, e.g. pneumothorax, etc.);

4.
Careful inspection of the surgical field prior to concluding surgery;

5.
Careful haemostasis, closure of 10 mm ports.

KEY WORDS:
pre-surgery preparation, surgical field, approach, concluding surgery, post-surgical care, surgery-related complications
