The whiplash syndrome is caused by extreme flexion and subsequent extension of the cervical spine.The most frequent cause are motor car crashes, collisions with the back part of another car the crewof which bears the risk of this syndrome. Based on the clinical picture and examination of imagingmethods three types of affection are differentiated. The authors demonstrate a group of 28 patientswith a history which suggested whiplash syndrome. In the conclusion the authors suggest analgorithm for examination of patients with whiplash syndrome.
