Overview

Summary:
The authors present an observation of squamous-cellular larynx cancer in unrelated husband and wife. In both partners – both were non-smokers – the authors determined an unfavorable working environment (a dry and dusty environment of a glass works, metal smelting in the man, many years of stay at dry cleaners and the work with perchloroethylene in the woman). None of the listed factors belongs to directly acknowledged risk for the origin of larynx cancer. The authors confront this observation from the point of view of probability and random occurrence. In conclusion the authors observe that neither the pathological-anatomical institute nor the oncological workplaces list documents, which would have corresponding health data about the partner.

Key words:
larynx cancer, epidemiology, unrelated (non-kinship) husband and wife.
