The authors describe the principles of the masking of the contralateral ear inexaminations of the hearing threshold. They explain the basic terms, which are important inthreshold audiometry. They attempt a simple and logically based procedure when selecting thecorrect level of masking. They draw attention to situations when it is difficult to assess the thresholdor when it is impossible.
